1)Special Kindergarten no 213 in Warsaw (2007-PL-57)
Special Kindergarten No 213 in Warsaw is an educational establishment for mentally handicapped children and youth. Volunteers task is to help the children in everyday activities and to participate in organizing and coordinating therapeutic activities, different thematic workshops, excursions, theatre etc. The Kindergarten needs 2 volunteers for the period of 10 months between September 2010 and June 2011.
2)The Society for Care over the Blind in Laski (2007-PL-62)
The Society for Care over the Blind in Laski (near Warsaw) is a catholic institution for blind and visually impaired children and youth. The volunteers live in the flat-community and help the pupils with their daily activities, such as getting ready for school, encourage them to take part in extra-curricular activities (e.g. swimming, musical, artistic and sport activities). The Institution needs one German speaking volunteer for the period of 10 months between September 2010 and June 2011. Volunteers should be also aware about the fact that Laski institution is located 60 min to Warsaw centre by buss, and it is quite isolated place located between fields and forest.
3)European School Club in 1st Adam Mickiewicz High School in Kolno (2007-PL-68)
European School Club is an informal group of students and teachers who focuses on expanding their knowledge about Europe (historical, geographical, cultural and economic). Volunteers get involved in club activities as well as initiate their own actions and lead them. They also take part in the realization of local and nationwide projects and prepare workshops concerning minorities, racism, anti-semitism, xenophobia, etc. The Club needs 2 volunteers for the period of 9 months between October 2010 and June 2011.
4)The Polish Robert Schuman Foundation (Warsaw) (2007-PL-70)
The Polish Robert Schuman Foundation is a non-governmental and non-political organization working on a local, national and international level. Foundation’s aim is to encourage Polish citizens to actively participate in the process of unifying Europe and spread the idea of multiculturalism. The volunteers can get involved in different projects depending on their wishes, aspirations and capabilities. The main task for volunteers is to get actively involved in the network of European School Clubs (ECS) in Poland. The Foundation needs 2 volunteers for the period of 10-12 months, starting August/September 2010.
5)Special Kindergarten No 393 in Warsaw (2007-PL-107)
Special Kindergarten No 393 is an educational establishment for physically disabled children (cerebral spastically, genetics definitive etc.) Volunteers participate in the classes and help the staff with changing children’s clothes, feeding the children or help them eat their meals, go to the toilet. Most of the activities are group oriented. Children spend most of the time playing, so the volunteers play with them a lot. The Kindergarten needs 2 volunteers for the period of 10 months between September 2010 and June 2011.
6)European Integration Club at the School Complex in Wojkowice (2008-PL-51)
European Integration Club at the School Complex in Wojkowice is a European School Club in a high school in Silesia. Volunteers work with the club members, get involved in school exchanges and yearly German-Polish exchange. The volunteers prepare workshops, presentations and activities with the goal of making students aware of issues related to Europe. They are also expected to help the students to improve and widen their language skills. Volunteers should be aware of the fact that there is not much going on in Wojkowice. However, it should be taken into account that it is surrounded by numerous bigger towns like Sosnowiec, Bytom or Katowice. The Club needs 2 volunteers for the period of 9 months between October 2010 and June 2011.
7)Special Kindergarten No 245 for Visually Impaired Children Warsaw (2009-PL-21)
The special kindergarten no. 245 takes care of visually impaired children from 3 to 6 years of age. Volunteer work directly with a blind child and assist the child during its stay in the kindergarten, helping with typical self-care activities, such as personal hygiene, help at eating and dressing. Assistance during the teacher-managed group classes and any other additional activities also will be needed. Children due to their visual impairment cannot rely on non-verbal communication that is why we put a special attention on the knowledge of Polish language of the volunteers. (Polish language course will be provided). The Kindergarten needs 2 volunteers for the period of 10 months between September 2010 and June 2011.
8)ATD Fourth World in Warsaw (2009-PL-48)
The ATD Fourth World is a non-governmental organization with no religious or political affiliation. We engage individuals and institutions to find solutions to eradicate extreme poverty.
