On June 12, 2009, representatives of Estonia’s Federation of Student Unions visited "IRELI" Public Union office. Attending the meeting were Yuri Pilviste, a member of the Steering Board of the Tartu University’s Student Union, Anna-Stella Aaristo, the Federation’s expert for socio-political issues, Hindrek Lotus, an instructor of Tallinn University’s Department of Political Science and Administration and PhD candidate in science, Anar Zeynalov, the head of the Department for Youths under the Youth Education Center, Vusal Bakirov, the secretary for higher and secondary schools of the IRELI Public Union, Ismayil Isayev, the secretary in charge of projects and programs, press secretary, Aynur Hasanzade, public relations secretary, Ulker Ibrahimova, and speaker of the Azerbaijan Youth Parliament, Hikmat Ismayilov.
After familiarization, the visitors were comprehensively briefed on the establishment of the "IRELI" Public Union, its mission and activities. This was followed by discussions on student exchange programs between Estonian and Azerbaijani universities and plans for cooperation as part of the European Union’s Youth in Action program. Also, participants discussed several projects and reached agreement on their implementation. In addition, forging ties between student organizations of Estonian and Azerbaijani universities, collaboration with IRELI’s Training Center and interaction in developing informal methods in education is envisioned.
Hindrek Lotus said in his remarks at the meeting that, despite the implementation of similar projects in Estonia, an organization tantamount to the "IRELI" Public Union is still non-existent in the country.
Following the official part of the meeting, the youths invited the guests to dinner, giving them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Azerbaijani national cuisine.
