The "IRELI" Public Union, the Azerbaijan Volunteers Public Union and the European Institute for Democratic Participation jointly conducted an international seminar, “The model of youth tolerance”, July 11-18, 2009, with the support of the European Union Youth Program and the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The seminar was attended by youth leaders from Spain, Romania, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, Serbia, the Netherlands, and Azerbaijan. The key goal of the event was to expand interaction and cooperation among young people and youth organizations in the EU’s neighboring states as part of the European Union Youth Program, give an incentive to joint preparation of projects and increasing their variety, promote recognition of Azerbaijan’s youth organizations and coordinate their activity with their European counterparts, and facilitate free involvement of Azerbaijani youths in EU programs.
The seminar on the role of youths in inter-cultural dialog was conducted by trainers with international status who are very experienced in working with young people in Europe. Also, Youth in Action experts dealing with the European Union Youth Program attended the training courses. As part of the Youth in Action initative, trainers focused on such key issues as exchange of youth, training courses, contact-making seminars, activities on forging cooperation, drafting projects within the European Volunteers Service, the process of application, and hiring.
The opening of the seminar was held at the "IRELI" Public Union Headquarters at 10.30 on July 13, 2009.
