The Senior Adviser for the Council of Europe (CE) Directorate for Youth and Sports, Guy-Michel Brandtner, met with the representatives of the "IRELI" Public Union at the organization’s headquarters on May 29, 2009. Jeyhun Osmanli, the "IRELI" chairman, Vusal Bakirov, the secretary for higher and secondary schools, Ismayil Isayev, the secretary in charge of projects and programs, and Sabuhi Rzayev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Volunteers Public Union, participated in the meeting.
Guy-Michel Brandtner, who paid a visit to Azerbaijan in connection with the Council of Europe Summer School project, said in his remarks that a dynamic development and high activeness of young people observed in the country. Brandtner termed Azerbaijan as one of the most active countries applying to the European Youth Foundation. He noted that the dynamics in nurturing young people was mainly facilitated by the efforts of local organizations like "IRELI" and state support to youth policies. The Council of Europe official also stated readiness for cooperation, pledging all-rounded assistance in implementing the European Youth Festival project proposed by Jeyhun Osmanli.
